But it should not cause concern among the mistakenly vaccinated, says Camilla Foged, professor of vaccine design at the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Copenhagen.
She emphasizes that there must be 21 days between the two stings with another vaccine – the Pfizer vaccine.
– The Moderna vaccine is built on the same technology as Pfizer, so it will probably not affect the protection of the 110 people, she estimates.
Still, the mistaken vaccinations most likely mean that the 110 will now have a third sting with the Moderna vaccine.
Both the Central Jutland Region and the Region of Southern Denmark have confirmed to Avisen Danmark that they have experienced incorrect vaccinations as a result of an IT error.
Due to the error, it has been possible to book another vaccination time too early, the newspaper writes.
Kurt Espersen, Executive Vice President of the Region of Southern Denmark, tells the media that a number of citizens have to go through the third step, “as one does not dare to rely on the immune system having made the right response”.
TV2’s access to documents shows that a total of around 1,150 cases of errors in vaccinations or the registrations of vaccination have been registered with the Statens Serum Institut.
In 450 cases, for example, people have been registered with two Pfizer vaccines in one day, which may mean that they have only received a single plug, writes TV2.
