The 20-year-old man has been declared clinically dead after the assault. This means that he has not passed away in the sense of the criminal law – his heart is still beating – but his condition is critical.
Two other men are already in custody in the case while police search for a fourth suspect.
According to the police, the 20-year-old man was assaulted in Sølvgade in Horsens. Here he was thrown into the trunk of a BMW, where he was subjected to gross violence. The car later crashed on Nørretorv in the city.
All three men arrested in the case are from Vejle. A 21-year-old and a 29-year-old were remanded in custody on Wednesday for the aggravated assault.
A 28-year-old woman was also arrested. According to police, she was sitting behind the wheel of a car, which picked up those charged after the accident in the square. She was released Wednesday after a constitutional hearing.
Both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s constitutional hearings take place behind closed doors. This means that only the charge is known to the public.
The statements of the accused men, if they have chosen to explain themselves in court, are therefore not stated. Nor is it evidence that the police believe they have against them.
In addition to the three men who are now in police custody, a 24-year-old man also participated in the assault, according to police. He is now wanted.
