Demonstrations related to the escalation of Israeli and Palestinian violence were held on Sunday in Helsinki, as in many other cities around the world.
The demonstration by Israeli supporters began at Paasikivi Square (Paasikivi Square) at 4 p.m., and was scheduled to last about an hour. According to the Helsinki police, 50-100 people were present.

On behalf of Palestine, the journey of solidarity also began at 4 pm in front of the Lutheran Cathedral in Helsinki and progressed to the Israeli Embassy. Police estimate that about 400 people took part in the procession.
In a tweet, the police warned of temporary traffic disruptions in the center of Helsinki and pointed out that the procession went from Senate Square to Simonkatu via Aleksanterinkatu and Mannerheimintie.

Police urged organizers to monitor social distance.
On Sunday afternoon, the Finnish-Syrian Friendship Society also presented on behalf of the Palestinians in the center of Helsinki. Police said about 150 people took part in the protest. One person was arrested at the start of the protest, but otherwise the incident progressed smoothly after maintaining social distance, police told the STT news agency.
