- Fossil footprints – as old as 58 million years – may be the oldest evidence of mammals collected in marine habitats.
- Researchers in Wyoming, USA, have photographed and dated over a kilometer of fossil footprints of bears and hippopotamus-like animals in an area that was previously a bay.
- The result suggests that mammals entered marine environments 9.4 million years earlier than previously thought.
