- Heavy start for Tre Kronor in the ice hockey WC. The premiere in Riga ended with a loss against Denmark, 3-4.
- Denmark’s KHL player Nicklas Jensen (everyday in the Finnish club Jokerit) was responsible for a hat trick for the Danes and became a big match winner.
- The Swedish team captain Carl Klingberg scored two goals and gave Swedish hope with his reduction goal in the third period. But despite pressure and play in six against five (Viktor Fasth left the box), Sweden could not get the equalizer puck. The loss was the first Swedish in a World Cup game against Denmark.
