According to Jonas Nilsen, who is a doctor and co-founder of the company Practio, which gives the dropped vaccines, it is no wonder that it is the vast majority of men – in the younger age groups – who choose to get one of the dropped vaccines.
– It is not so surprising that there are more men than women because there are fewer side effects for men. And the age distribution probably also makes good sense, because they are the ones who are furthest back in the queue, he says.
The dropped vaccines are those from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. They were taken out of the vaccination program due to very rare but serious side effects.
According to Jonas Nilsen, it is not possible to choose which vaccine you want, but since the side effects of Johnson & Johnson are more rare than those of AstraZeneca, they basically only expect to give Johnson & Johnson.
– It is entirely up to the doctor to assess which vaccine should be prescribed, but out here at the center we only have Johnson & Johnson, says Jonas Nilsen.
At six o’clock this morning, 295 people had been to a consultation with a doctor, 252 were prescribed a vaccine and 43 were rejected, Jonas Nilsen explains.
Jonas Nilsen cannot say yet why the 43 were rejected.
The vaccination center opens on Thursday, but it is not the first plugs with the scrapped vaccines that are being given.
The first plugs were given on Sunday, here 17 refrigeration fitters were vaccinated. They did so when they were going to India to install refrigeration equipment at a vaccine factory.
So far, about 28,000 have signed up for a consultation. The goal is to get up and vaccinate 10.00 people a day.
Centers are also opening in Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and Roskilde. The center in Aarhus opens on Friday.
