He is also sentenced to six years in prison
This is what lawyer Ulrik Sjølin, who is Evrim Asci’s defender, says.
The current case of weapons and extortion was treated last year as two separate cases at the city courts in Odense and Glostrup, respectively.
The court in Odense sentenced Evrim Asci to five years in prison and deportation for possession of two weapons and ammunition. Shortly afterwards, the court in Glostrup sentenced him to two years in prison and deportation from Denmark for extortion.
The cases thus resulted in a total of seven years in prison.
Thus, the total prison sentence in the Eastern High Court is shortened by one year. Nevertheless, Ulrik Sjølin is not satisfied with the outcome.
– No, I’m not happy. The issue of deportation we will try to get on to the Supreme Court, the lawyer says.
In order for the Supreme Court to decide whether it is reasonable to expel Evrim Asci in the specific case, the Procedural Licensing Board must first give permission for the case to be taken to the country’s highest court.
While Evrim Asci has confessed to possession of a weapon, he has denied guilt in extortion throughout the case.
Ulrik Sjølin expresses surprise that the cases of weapons and extortion were not dealt with together in the city court.
He explains that the prison sentences at the time were added together without any kind of “discount”. Usually, convicts receive a penalty rebate if they have committed several criminal offenses, which are dealt with simultaneously in the judicial system.
Therefore, he believes that it is only reasonable that the total sentence is reduced by one year in the Eastern High Court.
One of the six judges and judges of the High Court agreed with Ulrik Sjølin that the 33-year-old man should not be deported.
The rest voted to deport him from Denmark.
In connection with a previous verdict in a drug case, Evrim Asci has received a warning about deportation.
