Together with his band Culture Club, George Fluks sent off several huge hits at danceable hip height such as “Karma Charmeleon”.
With his nasal voice, eye-catching braids and punk makeup, Boy George sucked all the attention. Back then, no one was quite like him.
Since then, George Alan O & apos; Dowd, as the bourgeois name sounds, has often burned his candle at both ends with a flamethrower and cast his crooked talent in many directions.
But an unstoppable zest for action has, after all, prevented singer, songwriter, DJ and fashion designer Boy George from taking his own life with the drugs.
Therefore, he can celebrate his 60th birthday on June 14 in a clean and slim version.
But long before, his secret relationship with Culture Club member Jon Moss went to pieces. Culture Club did not stand to be saved – eaten up by uncontrollable success and internal conflicts.
At the same time, Boy George’s growing heroin addiction was rumored. When a younger musician was found dead from an overdose in Boy George’s home, he ended up in court but was acquitted.
Boy George went into treatment for his abuse. But it was far from his last dance macabre with drugs and justice system. Still, he managed to re-emerge with his first, excellent solo album “Sold” with a number of ear-splitting pop hits.
In the 80’s and 90’s he formed his own record company and released streaks of underground hits while being involved in Hara Krishna.
His many musical pursuits ranged from film music to a successful career as a DJ. In addition, underground releases and the critically acclaimed CD “U Can Never B2 Straight”.
In 2008, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison for handcuffing a young male Norwegian escort in his London apartment. Which he saw also struck with a chain as he tried to escape from the musician’s apartment.
His imprisonment finally made him realize how great an idiot he had been and that it just didnโt go any further, sounded his own analysis afterwards.
Over the years, Boy George has actually managed to move away from the slant that has taken the lives of so many of his peers.
He has published several memoirs, is portrayed in TV shows and in a successful musical “Taboo”.
Even the Culture Club has managed to recover periodically along the way.
