Municipal director Claus Thykjær has admitted that he has used the municipality’s credit card privately for, among other things, tickets for ice hockey, payment via the MobilePay service and purchases for DKK 2,300.
– The reason is that the city council no longer has the necessary trust in the municipal director as overall responsible for Greve Municipality, the municipality writes in a press release.
The purchases were made in Rema1000, Irma and Circle K.
The exemption was triggered after DR News asked the municipality questions about a number of the private purchases.
Neither Mayor Pernille Beckmann (V) nor the repatriated municipal director want to answer whether the private purchases are the direct reason for the repatriation.
According to DR’s information, the private purchases at the municipality’s expense are the reason for the decision.
The director has also admitted to using the municipality’s credit card privately in connection with a conference held in Nashville, USA.
Here, the municipality paid 1385 kroner for conference tickets to the municipal director’s wife.
According to the municipal director’s explanation to DR, this is in all cases an error, as he has confused the municipality’s credit card with his own, private card. The bank that issued the credit cards is the same, he explained.
He has repaid his private consumption.
He is exempt from service until the city council makes the final decision.
