Christian Eriksen gets an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator unit

He could still play
According to the Heart Association The Heart Association, an ICD device can treat cardiac arrest that begins as a rapid and dangerous arrhythmia of the heart chambers. It also acts as a pacemaker.

The Heart Association also revealed that most ICD patients can continue playing sports without complications.

“In fact, studies show that physically active ICD patients feel better physically and mentally than those who are inactive,” according to The Heart Association.

Daley Blind, who plays for Ajax Amsterdam and is currently with the Netherlands at Euro 2020, is among the elite footballers who have had an ICD device implanted.

But despite the possibilities, Eriksen has not yet decided whether he will continue his career.

Whatever he decides, the midfielder will watch tonight as his team-mates take on Belgium.

There promise to be plenty of emotional moments and greetings to Eriksen during the game.

In the 10th minute, for example, everyone stands in the stadium and cheers to pay tribute to Denmark’s number 10.
