We have gathered three of the best attractions in Denmark that you must not miss when you visit the beautiful country.
Mønsted Kalkgruber
If you are interested in natural sights created by the earth itself, visit Mønsted Kalkgruber. It is the world’s largest limestone mine, located just outside the city of Viborg in the Jutland region. When you visit the mine, you get to explore the caves, see the tunnels with a 25 cm layer of flint, watch the bats fly in and out of the mine and hear the wild stories about the mine. It is a unique and unforgettable experience for both children and adults. You can explore the caves with a train running 545 meters and if you want to reach the bottom of the caves you can take the 789 steps down to the lowest point. But remember warm clothes, mine is cold all year round.
Copenhagen
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, and it is certainly one of the most sophisticated, fashionable and coolest cities in Europe. Some people even call it the capital of Scandinavia. Copenhagen hosts more than a million Danes in a combination of old and medieval houses and state-of-the-art buildings. You can take a walk down the narrow and cobbled streets and alleys in the Inner City area and visit the living landmark Rundetaarn along the way. If you want to explore the smarter and more modern areas of Copenhagen, you can stop by the districts of Vesterbro or Nørrebro and dive into the many high-quality restaurants and cafés that offer you new Nordic cuisine in several variations.
Your National Park
Thy National Park is one of the places in Denmark that lives up to the expectations of the Scandinavian reputation for wild and noisy landscapes and pristine natural beauty. It is a nature reserve that offers coastal dunes, misty bogs, huge moors, areas of coniferous forest and endless kilometers of beautiful nature. Thy National Park is Denmark’s largest wilderness, it is located in northwestern Jutland in the Thy area and the national park’s total area is 94 square kilometers. It is not just a typical and simple tourist attraction, therefore you can not miss visiting Thy National Park when you are in Denmark.
