One of the victims was seriously injured in a car accident in Biskupsháls, between Grímsstaðir á Fjöllum and Möðrudalur.
There were five foreign tourists in the car that rolled off a high hill and rolled over several times.
The mbl.is portal informed about the accident for the first time. The notification about him came around 2 p.m. Árni Páll Jóhannsson, Akureyri Police Chief of Security, tells Vísir that two people were transported by medical plane from Mývatn to Akureyri Hospital.
The other three were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The Egilsstaðir police have started an investigation into the incident.
