The course of the events that led to the accident is also being investigated in co-operation with the investigation team of the Finnish Accident Information Institute (OTI).
The accident took place on Wednesday at about 8.30 at the intersection of Hämeenkatu and Uudenmaankatu, which is one of the busiest intersections in Turku.
Mika Paaer, The officer in charge of the preliminary investigation at the Police Department of Southwest Finland, told Helsingin Sanomat that the collision occurred when the scooter driver began to cross the extension of the bike path at a pedestrian path using traffic lights. The bus, on the other hand, was heading southeast from the city center to Kupittaa, crossing Hämeentie.
Last night, it was not known whether the traffic light was green or red and whether the victim had a helmet.
The accident is believed to be the first fatal accident on an electric kickboard in Finland, says Helsingin Sanomat.
