Several times before, he has traveled to Denmark, even though the Supreme Court in 2015 expelled him permanently in connection with a sentence of imprisonment for five years.
Also in 2019, he was expelled permanently. Here it was the Copenhagen City Court that sanctioned his illegal entry.
On previous occasions, the Croatian citizen has said that he wanted to go to Denmark to visit his sick mother.
A judge on Thursday decided to send the 47-year-old behind bars, and four other family members are currently in the same situation.
The quartet – a woman and three men – have been remanded in custody and charged with a string of trick thefts and a few robberies.
They are accused of having used the corona crisis as a pretext to get into the elderly, where they had to spray and clean. They came from home care, it sounded, for example. In several cases, the elderly lost jewelry and cash.
The court in Glostrup opened the case the other day, where the prosecution demands an increased sentence because the crime was committed under the cover of the pandemic. The four plead not guilty to almost all of the charges listed in the indictment. Incidentally, two of them are required to be deported.
In the new case with Django Levakovic, the police have also filed charges of giving up a false name – he must have pretended to be his brother Gimi, who became nationally known via some TV programs.
He could not immediately acknowledge this in Thursday’s constitutional hearing. He told the judge he could not remember whether he gave up his own name or Gimis. He was confused.
