You may have missed it, but Friday, August 13th was the last day we were to wear face masks on public transportation.
Originally, the restriction was to be lifted on September 1st.
However, the government has referred to the progress of the vaccination program – almost 65 percent of the population is now fully covered – has decided to lift a number of restrictions earlier than planned.
Confirmed! We can sit closer to each other
Distance requirements have also been interrupted at a number of indoor venues, including cinemas, churches, shops and concerts. Previously, two sqm per. Person required, which meant staggered seating.
This meant that a large number of weekend confirmation services could be attended by far more people than previously allowed.
It has also had an impact on the ongoing LGBTI + mega festival Copenhagen 2021, where many of the events now have a much larger attendance capacity.
Supermarkets to maintain distance in queues
However, a number of supermarkets, including Netto and Brugsen, intend to continue with the floor stickers indicating staggered queues, while making hand alcohol available at entrances and exits.
Brugsen is owned by Coop, and its head of communications and analysis, Lars Aarup, said that customers wanted the extra security.
“It turns out that customers are very happy with the guidance on where to stand in line,” he told DR.
The only significant change, he revealed, would be a sign at the front door indicating how many people are in the store. Plexiglas sheets in front of the cash register operators will also remain in place.
The country’s other major supermarket owner, Salling Group, which owns Netto, agrees that floor marks, hand sanitizer and plexiglass will remain.
