The small parish of Skelund in Mariagerfjord Municipality has exceeded the authorities’ infection limit and will be affected by automatic closure from Monday.
The closure affects a number of sports clubs and associations, Mariagerfjord Municipality states on its website. This includes a tennis club and badminton club.
At the municipality, Flemming Bækby Nielsen, head of health preparedness, says that the closure is a sign that the corona is not over.
– Unfortunately, we have to temporarily shut down cultural and association activities to contain the infection, as all infection rates are above the limits set by the health authorities.
– It is of course a pity for everyone, as the local cultural and association life had just come up to speed here after the summer holidays, he says in a press release.
There are 1066 inhabitants in Skelund Parish. Day care, nurseries and kindergartens remain open, but parents are encouraged to keep their children at home if possible.
A parish will be hit by closure if it has an incidence in one week – infected per 100,000 inhabitants – over 1000, more than 20 infected and a positive percentage of over three.
In the past week, Skelund has had an incidence of 2062, 22 cases of infection and a positive percentage of 9.6. It shows figures from the Statens Serum Institut (SSI).
In addition to Skelund Parish, Astrup Parish near Aarhus is also affected by closure.
However, it has not had the great practical significance, as there are no schools or leisure and cultural facilities in the parish, Aarhus Municipality informed TV 2 on Saturday.
Also in Astrup, parents are encouraged to let their children who go to day care stay at home, if possible.
