An ugly cruciate ligament injury during the European Championship semi-final in 2017 ended up being fatal for North Jutland.
She struggled hard to get back on the field again, but her knee was no longer able to play elite football.
In an interview with the Players’ Association in November last year, she said that she is not even able to run. Therefore, the midfielder suddenly but quietly disappeared from Fortuna Hjørring’s squad overview.
– When I realized that I had to sign that I am a football invalid, it gave a suck in the stomach. Because I never thought it would be like that, my career stopped. It is not that I have said publicly that I stopped my career. But now it should be written on such a piece of paper. So I went from being in a European Championship intoxication in 2017 to being a disabled football player, she told the Players’ Association.
Line S. Jensen can look back on a great career that, among other things, featured 66 international matches.
Her national team career extends from her debut as a teenager in 2009 until the fateful European Championship semi-final in the summer of 2017. A few days after the cruciate ligament injury, she had a European Championship silver medal hung around her neck.
Four years earlier, she and the rest of her national team colleagues had to look in vain for a European Championship medal when Denmark lost the European Championship semi-final to Norway after a penalty shootout.
In addition to a short stay in American Washington Spirit in the period 2016-2017, she played her entire senior career for Fortuna Hjørring.
