Two young men have been convicted on Monday of possession of weapons and explosives.
The Copenhagen Police writes this in a press release on Wednesday.
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison, while a 19-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison. The 22-year-old has also been sentenced to a ban on staying in parts of postcode 2700 Brønshøj for six years.
The 22-year-old has been found guilty of possessing a pistol with ammunition, 321 grams of dynamite and a machete. The illegal drugs were stored in a car parked on a road in Brønshøj.
The court also ruled that the 22-year-old was affiliated with a gang group and that it was as part of a gang conflict in the spring and summer of 2020 that he was in possession of the weapons and explosives, police write in the statement.
The conflict then led to nine shootings and two killed. Therefore, he was convicted according to the gang law’s gang provision, which means that the punishment must in principle be doubled. Therefore, he was sentenced to six years in prison.
In addition, he was sentenced to a residence ban, which means that he is not allowed to stay in certain parts of postcode 2700 Brønshøj for six years.
The 19-year-old was found guilty by the court of aiding and abetting possession of the weapons and explosives. He has been sentenced to three years in prison.
The 22-year-old had the car, which was used to store the weapons and ammunition, registered in the 19-year-old’s name. Therefore, the court held that the 19-year-old should have known that the car could be used to store weapons and explosives as part of a gang conflict.
The 22-year-old appealed on the spot, while the 19-year-old wanted to take time to think.
