The oldest pupils in primary school must have an annual grade for diligence. This is the opinion of Minister for Children and Education Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil (S).
It writes Jyllands-Posten.
She wants to get the other parliamentary parties involved in an experiment that will be rolled out among thousands of students in 8th and 9th grade.
The students must not only be rewarded for how well they do in a subject, but they must also have a grade for work effort, the minister believes.
– Seen through society’s glasses, two things are crucial when children become adults. Partly that they are skilled. That is, whether they have academically learned the things in primary school that they need to be able to cope with. Partly that they are actually diligent, says Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil to Jyllands-Posten.
She refers to the fact that children in Norway, for example, also get a grade for diligence and order.
According to the Minister, this will give academically weaker students the opportunity to also perform and achieve a good grade for diligence.
