The hotline for the Finnish mental health crisis called a record number in July, according to the charity that maintains the service.
Mieli Finland ry says that the hotline received about 28,800 calls a month, on average more than 900 calls a day.
The previous monthly record was 27,520 calls in August 2020. The figure for July 2019, the last July before the pandemic, was 22,744.
Most calls from young people who were at risk of harming themselves were at particular risk. The number of calls from people at risk of self-harm decreased slightly, even though the calls of their loved ones were at a similar level as in 2020.
