Internal video reveals division and two wings in the Danish People’s Party

A video from an internal party meeting causes several profiles from the Danish People’s Party (DF) to openly smoke at each other. It writes Jyllands-Posten.

In the video, Martin Henriksen, who is the main board member of DF, speaks openly about a deep division and wing in the party.

According to Jyllands-Posten, the video was recorded on Saturday, where Martin Henriksen gave a presentation at a members’ meeting in DF’s department in Hjørring in North Jutland.

Here, Martin Henriksen says that there is a dispute within the party about “where the party should place itself strategically and politically”.

According to Martin Henriksen, the dispute has divided the Danish People’s Party into two factions.

One wing argues that one should reflect on foreign policy, where in recent years there has been opposition from the right in the form of New Citizens.

Martin Henriksen, who is known as a hardliner in foreign policy, disagrees.

– There is a discussion in the party where someone thinks we should approach the other parties.

– But where we are some pieces that believe that it is the way forward to look at what has historically worked, says Martin Henriksen at the meeting according to Jyllands-Posten.

According to Martin Henriksen, the other wing is the EU parliamentarian Peter Kofod, the former EU parliamentarian Anders Vistisen and the DFU chairman Tobias Weische.

In a text message to Jyllands-Posten, Anders Vistisen criticizes the statements from Martin Henriksen, but he does not want to be interviewed.

Vistisen writes, however, that an account of the situation should be restored and that it should be discussed with the main board.

Peter Kofod calls the newspaper Martin Henriksen’s attack “very harsh accusations”.

Jyllands-Posten has tried in vain to get a comment from DF chairman Kristian Thulesen Dahl, while Martin Henriksen defends his statements to the newspaper.
