Valve unsure if fans can participate in Dotas International 2021

While the world’s richest esports event, Dota 2’s The International, is scheduled to take place next month in Bucharest, Romania, game maker Valve is still unsure if fans will be in attendance.

Valve published an online statement on Friday regarding the possibility for spectators to be present at the tournament of 40 million dollars plus among the increase in coronavirus infections.

The company wrote: “Finally, the best Dota teams in the world will gather in October to carry out the tenth battle to claim the Aegis of Champions. We had hoped to release ticket information now, but the Delta variant has been an added challenge when we work to navigate the host of a live event as safely as possible. With ever-changing circumstances, we want to be sure to make a well-informed and safe decision on ticket sales closer to the event.

“We understand that this makes it difficult to plan for fans hoping to travel to Romania. We will continue to evaluate the situation and provide ticket information as soon as we can.”

The 2020 version of The International, which will be played in Stockholm, was canceled due to the pandemic. The next event was planned for August 2021 in Stockholm, but visa issues in Sweden prompted organizers to move the event to Romania and postpone the date.

International 2021, also known as The International 10 or TI10, is scheduled to begin with the group stage, October 7-10. The main event will follow October 12-17.

OG is the two-time defending champion, having won 2018 in Vancouver and 2019 in Shanghai.
