42-year-old hospitalized after stabbing in Esbjerg – one is imprisoned

A 42-year-old man has been admitted to hospital after he was stabbed with a knife early Sunday morning in Torvegade in Esbjerg.

The man is badly injured.

The South and Southern Jutland Police write this in a press release.

An 18-year-old man from Esbjerg has been arrested in the case. He was apprehended by police immediately after the stabbing, which took place at 05.15.

A patrol was already in the area when unrest broke out between several people. Therefore, officers were able to arrest the suspected perpetrator immediately.

On Sunday afternoon, the 18-year-old was produced in constitutional interrogation at the Court in Esbjerg. Here, the judge decided that he should be in custody for a preliminary four weeks, the police inform on Twitter.

He denies guilt and has appealed the ruling on custody to the Western High Court.

The constitutional hearing took place behind closed doors. Therefore, it is not possible to find out what the 18-year-old has explained or what evidence the police may have against him.

After the stabbing, Skolegade between Torvet and Englandsgade in Esbjerg was blocked due to police work on the spot.

The blockade was lifted at 12.30.

While the police investigations at the crime scene have been completed, the investigation continues. Therefore, the South and Southern Jutland Police are looking for witnesses who may have witnessed the stabbing.
