The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration wants Ayaan Hirsi Ali to explain the background of young asylum-seeking girls.
– Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one of the people in the world who, in my opinion, can best explain the whole question and problem of social coercion and cultural control, forced marriages and the like, says Inger Støjberg on her way to Monday’s court hearing in the Supreme Court.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Somalia and is a well-known debater and critic of Islam, who has previously expressed his support for Inger Støjberg.
On Monday afternoon, the Supreme Court will hear arguments for and against leading the witness, which the prosecutors want rejected. Later, the Supreme Court will decide whether the critic of Islam must be brought as a witness.
First, however, the prosecutors must complete their submission, where they present key emails, documents and evidence for the case.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s father was politically active and had to flee with his family. They were through several countries before Ayaan Hirsi Ali ended up in the Netherlands. She now lives in the USA, but has been to Denmark several times.
In 2010, she participated in the Danish People’s Party’s annual meeting. In 2004, she received the Liberal Party’s Freedom Award.
During the Muhammad crisis in 2005 and 2006, she praised Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen for handling the situation and defending freedom of expression.
Prior to Monday’s court hearing, Inger Støjberg also says that it is important to understand the entire framework of the case. There was also political pressure, she says – even from the Radicals.
– Of course I was pressured from all sides, but I did not feel pressured in the way that I should do something I did not want. But I really wanted – and I still do – to do away with child brides, says Støjberg.
