Among the new names in the series is Tuva Novotny, who will play the doctor Anna, who, among other things, has the task of checking her colleagues and ensuring that everything goes right.
Tuva Novotny has previously had roles in the Danish films “The Truth About Men”, “The War” and “The Suicide Tourist”.
Mikael Persbrandt, who is known from both Danish and international films such as “The Revenge”, the “The Hobbit” trilogy and “King Arthur” and in Denmark not least as the investigator Gunvald Larsson in the crime series “Beck”, is also new to the Kingdom.
Here he will play chief physician Helmer Junior, who is the son of Stig Helmer, who in the first two seasons was known as a notorious Danish-hating Swedish chief physician.
Ernst-Hugo Järegård, who played the Swedish chief physician in the 1990s, has died since the second season was recorded. The same goes for a number of other of the original actors.
The Swedish actors meet in the series when the skewed relationship between Denmark and Sweden reaches new heights, according to the press release.
In “Riget Exodus”, the Swedes at Rigshospitalet have found each other and together established the conversation group “SA” – Swedish Anonymous.
They meet in the basement of the hospital to secretly express their frustration over the Danes’ “jovial and arrogant manner”. As things unfold, a revolt is sprouting in the group, the press release reads.
The Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård, who has had his big Hollywood breakthrough in recent years, will be a guest performer in the new season as a lawyer at Rigshospitalet. A role he inherits from his father, Stellan Skarsgård, who also played a lawyer in the second season of “The Kingdom”.
Danish-Swedish David Dencik also has a guest appearance in the new season. Here he plays Bosse, the leader of the group Swedish Anonymous.
In addition, Ida Engvoll and Anders Mossling will be among the Swedes at Rigshospitalet. The same applies to Danish-Swedish Asta August.
It has previously been announced that Bodil Jørgensen, Ghita Nørby, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Lars Mikkelsen and others also participate in “Riget Exodus”.
The so far last season of “The Kingdom” aired in 1997.
