Both farmers and nature lovers call the blue agricultural proposal ambitious

Maria Reumert Gjerding, president of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation, is pleased that the bourgeoisie will raise the level of ambition.

– Climate ambitions are really important, and we must take action where we know we can get started now. It is to take agricultural land out of production and turn it into nature.

– These 100,000 hectares are ambitious, and it should start now, she says.

Søren Søndergaard, chairman of Agriculture & Food, also calls it “a very ambitious proposal, which places great demands on the industry’s adaptability”.

– When you have big ambitions, there is also a big responsibility to secure some money for the investments.

– Here, I think that the blue proposal lifts its task, where you allocate financing to also invest in, among other things, the lands to be taken. After all, it can not be true that it is the farmer who happens to own the land who has to bear the bill.

The proposal from the Liberal Party, the Conservatives, the Danish People’s Party, the Liberal Alliance and the New Citizens’ Party contains investments of DKK 750 million in the coming years to support the green transition.

In other words, the blue parties set out to help the industry through climate change with more of the state’s money than the S government proposes.
