– I have lost a lot of my friends, I have lost all my public assignments. And it’s about choices I’ve made. But it’s not because I’m a bad writer, it’s because others do not want to deal with me.
Ann Heberlein says this in a conversation with Katarina Hahr where she tells about what it is like to be an acclaimed author and then fall.
– There is nothing I can say, write or do that changes the image that exists of me in public and why should I then put time and effort into it? It will only make me unhappy.
Ann Heberlein also tells Katarina Hahr how she changed her life.
– Because I lost so much income, I ended up with the bailiff and the only way to solve that debt was to sell a house that I loved because otherwise I would have perished. Living with a wage garnishment from the Enforcement Officer is not something I want my worst enemy.
