– Dear all, yes. The meeting I attended at the ministry left no doubt about her attitude to the matter – regardless of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, when the couple has [et] common child, he wrote after the meeting in an email.
At the group executive meeting, in which the then Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration Inger Støjberg participated, they discussed, among other things, a press release, which is central to the Supreme Court case against Inger Støjberg.
On Monday, Støjberg was to tell about the meeting in the Supreme Court, where prosecutor Anne Birgitte Gammeljord began the interrogation of the former Liberal minister, who is accused of having issued an illegal instruction.
In the press release, Støjberg said that she had asked the Danish Immigration Service to immediately put an end to minors in the asylum system being able to live with a spouse or cohabitant.
In it, no possibility of exceptions was mentioned. Since in such cases one is entitled to an individual treatment, it will be an illegal way of practicing.
Støjberg told the court on Monday that they discussed at the meeting that she wanted the exceptions out of the announcement.
– We discussed it somewhat back and forth, and finally Uffe Toudal says: “Then take it out, but it will be administered according to the rules”.
– The atmosphere was quite straightforward. We discussed these things, and I’ve probably been a little impatient and a little bit like, “Let’s move on now.” That’s how I think the others also felt, Støjberg said in court.
According to Støjberg, Lykke Sørensen, head of department in the ministry, came to the meeting with a “remark out of the blue about exceptions and conventions”, Inger Støjberg recalls.
Lykke Sørensen allegedly said that exceptions would be administered, and the then minister was surprised.
– But I had approved the note the day before, so I knew all about it, said Inger Støjberg in court.
She thus referred to the fact that she had approved a memorandum stating that there are exceptions where couples cannot be separated at each of their asylum centers.
The prosecutor wanted to know on Monday whether they discussed the conventions at the meeting.
– Happiness comes with these remarks into space. There is no discussion of conventions. It is quite short that it is mentioned by Lykke, and as I said, it is a bit out of space, said Støjberg.
After Monday’s court hearing, it was a brief Støjberg who met the press in front of the court.
– I think we have gotten around well, and then we will take a trip again tomorrow, says Støjberg, who will also be questioned on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The verdict is expected before Christmas.
