– Now the process starts in earnest with the selection of the last ten nature national parks on state land, where there will be public meetings in all 23 potential places and space for debate.
In a nature national park, large mammals must be able to graze all year round surrounded by “old trees, recreated water holes, wild flowers and a buzzing insect life”.
That is, places where nature “is allowed to grow more wild and develop on more natural terms”.
The 23 selected proposals are divided into 11 old forest areas such as Mols Bjerge, two heathlands, seven dune plantations such as Skagens Odde and three smaller areas that ensure geographical spread such as Svanninge Bakker.
It is the political agreement circle that ultimately decides where the ten nature national parks are to be located. The circle of agreements consists of the government, the Socialist People’s Party, the Radical Left, the Unity List and the Alternative,
It is expected to happen in December 2021.
The agreement circle has previously chosen locations for five parks.
In 2022, nature national parks in Fussingø near Randers and in Gribskov are scheduled to be ready.
Back in April, the following three parks were presented. They are located in Almindingen on Bornholm, Stråsø between Herning and Holstebro and Tranum by Jammerbugt.
Then in May came the call from the Minister of the Environment to submit proposals.
