The party believes that in future, as a starting point, care homes will be established when new nursing home places are to be built in the municipality. Or at least in collaboration with private actors in the municipalities where there are no or few non-municipal nursing homes.
Unlike many municipal nursing homes, the residents of nursing homes have the opportunity to buy extra services in everyday life. This can be, for example, extra cleaning. Or that the nursing staff accompanies a resident on a walk.
– Older people, like all other people, are happy with free choice and free choice, and today there are unfortunately 57 municipalities where there is no alternative to municipal nursing homes, says the Conservatives’ chairman, Søren Pape Poulsen.
– We will be missing a lot of nursing home places. There is no place where monopoly is good. The fact that there are different types of nursing homes means that the elderly have a free choice. They deserve it.
– So that is why we are now saying that we must force the municipalities to put this out to tender if, for ideological reasons, they insist that only the municipality can be allowed to build, says Pape.
According to Pape, more nursing homes will also mean that private actors relieve the municipalities’ budgets.
– It will help secure the homes, and at the same time we will get a lot of nursing home places that we need in the coming years, says Pape.
