The upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major event of 2 million dollars will be held as initially planned in Stockholm, the tournament organizer PGL announced on Friday.
PGL’s confirmation comes in the heels of the Swedish government and announces that it has removed all pandemic-related restrictions for esports events in the country.
The 24-team event in Sweden has, however, been moved to start on 26 October. It will run until November 7, with the last four days for the playoffs at Avicii Arena.
PGL CEO Silviu Stone took to social media to announce a very important note for the event.
“I firmly believe that the only way to bring back massive LAN events is to require full vaccination of participating players, talents, spectators,” Stone wrote on Twitter. “This will be a requirement for all upcoming PGL 2022 events.”
Major is the first CS: GO event sponsored by Valve since StarLadder Berlin Major in September 2019. The Corona pandemic forced the cancellation of such events in 2020.
