Van drives wrong on bridge - two are in critical condition

A van drove wrong late Saturday night in a traffic accident at Kalvebodbroen towards Amager.

Two people have been rushed to Rigshospitalet in ambulances with escorts. Both are in critical condition. This is what Dyre Sønnicksen, head of security at the Copenhagen Police, says on the night before Sunday.

The van drove from the Zealand side on its way to Amager. How the van drove wrong is not yet known, according to the chief of guards.

– We have a car inspector on site who must investigate how the accident happened, says Dyre Sønnicksen.

Police also have a helicopter in the area to search for people who may have escaped from the scene of the accident.

Due to the accident, the Amager motorway is blocked for traffic towards Copenhagen at exit 21.

– We have put a plug in at Avedøre. There is massive queuing already, the chief of guards said shortly before midnight.

Exactly how long it will take, Dyre Sønnicksen can not say anything about after midnight on Sunday night.

– But it will probably take some time, he says.

The relatives have not been notified yet.
