A total of 15 men have been charged, of which 12 have Albanian backgrounds. Lawyer Henrik Dupont Jørgensen defends the man who is called “the bald man”, and who according to the charges should be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
– It will be a legal experiment, the lawyer says to the demand that the sentence of 16 years must be broken.
“The bald man” admits to having had a pistol of the brand Glock, which was found in the attic of the rented villa on Amager. Incidentally, there was also four million kroner in cash.
A couple of times in his speech to the court, the lawyer refers to Ludvig Holberg’s “Erasmus Montanus”. Namely, to the place in the play where the swollen academic Erasmus convinces the poor Morlille that she is a rock.
Morlille can not fly. A rock cannot fly. Ergo, Morlille is a rock.
According to the lawyer, the same inexorable logic has been used by the prosecution in the claim that several tonnes of cocaine must have been smuggled in over several years. 4.5 tons were mixed up to nine tons, it sounds.
– It is worrying that from the massive investigation with tweezers, the very small details that can fit the theory are produced, says Henrik Dupont Jørgensen.
Incidentally, the accusers have also imitated “Erasmus Montanus” in another way. Namely, by conjuring an assertion away again. The defense counsel hereby refers to the fact that the prosecutors during the case have decided to abandon part of the indictment against another of the men. A claim of six tonnes has been thrown in the rubbish bin for this defendant.
The “bald man” is accused of being the culprit, but the defender says that the court has not received a precise statement of specific actions, which according to him is a condition for being able to find the client guilty.
– The shortest indictment has been made in the biggest drug case ever, says Henrik Dupont Jørgensen.
He talks about the lack of direct evidence and about one-sided investigation. Even though surveillance, eavesdropping and other investigations have been intense. Prosecutors have given “the bald” the role of a leading and coordinating force.
– But where have we heard about it in the 160 to 170 interceptions, the defender asks rhetorically.
Before the court can withdraw to vote, it must also hear the submissions of the other defenders. Last court hearing is October 15.
