This is what the party’s psychiatry spokesman, Peder Hvelplund, says on Friday prior to the Psychiatry Summit 2021, which will be held on Saturday. The party will have added 300 million kroner to the area of the Finance Act.
– Now we have been waiting for that plan for two years. So we are gradually becoming concerned about whether the 10-year plan means we have to wait 10 years for a plan.
– There is an urgent need for funds, especially for social psychiatry, where some of the most vulnerable citizens receive treatment that we simply cannot be aware of, says Peder Hvelplund.
The 300 million kroner that the party wants in the Finance Act, the party believes should go to the municipalities’ housing services, training of employees and support for prevention through counseling.
In the government and the supporting parties’ first Finance Act, the Finance Act for 2020, DKK 600 million was allocated annually to the area as a solution until a 10-year agreement could be entered into. But it must be increased by 50 percent, Peder Hvelplund is asked.
– We were constantly aware that it was not enough. It should lift hospital psychiatry. But there is also a need to raise psychiatry in the municipalities, which have a lot of preventive work and housing, says the rapporteur.
Peder Hvelplund hopes that negotiations on an actual long-term plan for the area will begin soon.
– We are still pushing and I expect that there will be progress in the negotiations. We have told the government that it is important that we get the involvement of both users, relatives and professional organizations, so that we get a comprehensive plan.
– But we must state that we have waited a really long time now. And we can not continue to do that.
