The book Gatið by writer Yrsa Sigurðardóttir was nominated for the British Petron Prize, awarded for the best Scandinavian crime novel. Yrsa already received this award in 2015 for her novel Bakið, and last year was nominated for an award for her book Aflausn.
Gatið’s book, published in 2017, tells the story of a large investor who is found dead in the Gálgahraun lava field. The body was in a place that can be seen from Bessastaðir and where executions took place in the past.
The book received many good reviews, and the Financial Times journalist wrote that the novel was very exciting.
“Nowhere have Icelandic nights been so terrible as in Yrsa Sigurðardóttir’s terrifying tales.”
In addition to Yrsa, the nominees are Anne Holt, Jørn Lier Horst and Thomas Enger, Håkan Nesser, Mikael Niemi and Agnes Ravatn.
