Here he played his son Christian in the play, which is based on Thomas Vinterberg’s dogma film from 1998. On Thursday he turns 50 years old.
But age is not something that concerns the birth attendant, he has previously said in an interview with Vendsyssel Teater:
– I just think it is very important not to be fixated on some age that the body has, it sounded from Martin Hestbæk in 2018.
He was educated at Odense Theatre’s student school in 1997. After graduating, he has played theater on many of the country’s big stages.
Over the years, enthusiastic theater-goers have thus been able to see him at the Royal Theater, Aarhus Theater and Grønnegårds Teatret in Copenhagen.
Here he has appeared in pieces such as “Autumn”, “Frost Brothers” and “All My Sons”.
And in recent years he has thrilled theatergoers and critics with performances such as “In the dust from the rain”, “Red Worm” and Henrik Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House”.
This year, together with, among others, Stine Stengade, he has participated in the performance “I Disappear” at the Royal Theater. A piece that, based on the refugee crisis, describes the fragility of modern man.
In addition to his career on the slanted boards, Martin Hestbæk has starred in a host of films and TV series.
Among the TV series are “2900 Happiness”, “Lærkevej”, “Krøniken”, “Strisser på Samsø” and “Rejseholdet”.
On the big screen, he has appeared in films such as “Flammen og Citronen” and “Spies & Glistrup”. Most recently, he has had a role in the Viking film “Viking Blood” from 2018.
Martin Hestbæk and Anne Oppenhagen Pagh have daughters Cornelia and Julia.
He is in addition to being an actor trained carpenter.
