At 3:32 pm a felt, quite strong earthquake occurred in the south-west corner of the country. According to the Icelandic Meteorology Institute, the source of the quake was 1.1 km southwest of Keilir, where there has been a lot of seismic activity in recent days.
It is the largest quake recorded in the series of earthquakes on the Reykjanes Peninsula that began Monday. Most of the tremors occurred at a depth of 5 to 6 kilometers.
The shock was felt even in Borgarnes. Efstaleit looked as if there were two earthquakes, one smaller and a few seconds later another quite strong.
