* No alcohol consumption is risk-free for your health.
Alcohol affects almost all organs of the body, and alcohol intake is related to about 60 different diseases and conditions. Among other things, even a small consumption of alcohol can cause cancer.
* The low-risk limit is 7 for women and 14 for men.
You have a low risk of harming your health due to alcohol if you drink up to seven items a week as a woman. As a man, the limit is 14 items.
The limit is lower for women than for men, partly because women have a higher risk of suffering an alcohol-related death than men by consuming the same amount of alcohol.
* The high-risk limit is 14 for women and 21 for men.
You have a high risk of harming your health if you as a woman drink more than 14 items a week, or if you as a man drink more than 21 items a week.
* Stop before five objects on the same occasion.
The more you drink at once, the more it harms your health. The National Board of Health recommends that you do not manage to drink five items on the same occasion.
* Young people and the elderly should be careful with alcohol.
Young people under the age of 16 in particular are at risk of injury as a result of alcohol. Among other things, the brain can be damaged. According to the National Board of Health, they should not drink alcohol.
Older people are more sensitive to the harmful effects of alcohol and get a higher blood alcohol level faster than younger people. In addition, the elderly have a reduced ability to metabolize alcohol in the body.
