But it will be a somewhat different test system in the near future.
From 9 October, all lightning test centers run by private providers must be closed.
Instead, the primary test in Denmark will be the pcr test, which is taken in the throat at public test sites. But in the long run, a lightning test in the nose will also be an option at several of these centers.
That’s what Lisbet Zilmer-Johns, director of the Danish Agency for Security of Supply, says.
– We have decided to make it so that 5-10 places in the individual region will be able to have a quick test done in an emergency.
– And that is simply if you are in a situation where you have to have the answer immediately, she says.
When the lightning test centers now have to close, it is because there is no longer an equally great need for testing, points out Lisbet Zilmer-Johns.
– It is a sign that the vaccinations have done their job.
– The infection is low, and there is simply less need for many tests – including quick tests – and therefore we close the private centers, but maintain that you can go and get a pcr test, she says.
There is now a daily capacity of 100,000 daily pcr tests. It can be either scaled up or down at short notice, depending on the need, says Lisbet Zilmer-Johns.
Although in the long run it will be possible to get a lightning test in some of the current pcr test centers, the pcr test is still the preferred test, emphasizes Anne-Marie Vangsted, director of Testcenter Denmark.
– We continue to recommend pcr testing. Because it is important for me to emphasize that if you have symptoms, you must be tested, she says.
It is, among other things, close contacts and people with symptoms who are still encouraged to be coronated.
Nursing home staff are also encouraged to take a weekly test. The same goes for non-vaccinated students over the age of nine as well as staff at the country’s schools.
The vast majority will be able to have that test performed at their workplace or school.
However, an agreement has been made between the regions and the private lightning service providers Falck, Carelink and Copenhagen Medical that they must be able to design a test setup at short notice. That agreement runs until March 31 next year.
