DR must be developed into a “fully digital public service institution”.
This is stated by DR in a press release which deals with a comprehensive plan for digital development.
In this context, six digital initiatives are being launched.
The strategy also means a change in DR’s organization. This means that the director area “DR Media” will be closed down and a new area called “DR User, Market and Publishing” will be created.
One of the goals of the plan is that in 2023, eight out of ten Danes will use DR’s digital services weekly.
– The core of DR’s public service task is still the same. We want to support democracy, contribute to Danish culture and strengthen the community. But the Danes are not becoming digital media users, they already are, and therefore we must develop DR’s offerings to users in the digital reality.
– The digital development is not a goal in itself, but a prerequisite for Danes to be able to discover and use Danish public service content in the future, says Maria Rørbye Rønn, CEO of DR, in the press release.
