Police have measured with a drug meter that the other boy has taken cannabis. A blood test must now reveal whether he has been affected to such an extent that the limits of the Traffic Act have been exceeded.
In addition, the police must have clarified which of the two drove the moped. If it was the survivor, and it turns out that he was sufficiently influenced, he risks a charge of negligent manslaughter in particularly aggravating circumstances.
– This underlines partly the importance of driving with a helmet, partly the importance of not driving two on a moped and partly the importance of not driving under the influence, it sounds from David Eckert.
Forensic examinations must determine whether the deceased has been under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
The police received the report at 01.31. The accident happened when the boys’ moped hit a curb. One boy was thrown off and hit a lamppost.
The other boy was called for help from a passer-by, who provided first aid to the boy who had hit the lamppost. Shortly afterwards, a police patrol arrived, which also provided first aid.
But it was in vain. An ambulance doctor determined on the spot that the 17-year-old boy was dead.
In connection with the investigation of the accident, the North Zealand Police are looking for witnesses who have seen the boys and who can help to shed light on what has happened.
