Anne Laxholm started going to dance when she was about three years old. When she was 15 years old, she moved from the local dance school to Ellen Bager’s dance school in Elsinore.
It was here that she met the man with whom she came to form a couple – both professionally and privately – Hans-Henrik Laxholm. She was standing without a dance partner when her dance partner stopped.
– But there I saw this young man sitting in the corner, and it was Hans-Henrik. I then got to dance with him, she says.
– It’s the short version, she adds with a laugh.
Anne and Hans-Henrik Laxholm have both become Danish champions from 1975 to 1980, European champions in 1979 and the same year the first Danish world champions in standard dance.
They moved to England in 1974 to dance. At times, their close professional couple races have been tough, because with dance you get very close to each other, says Anne Laxholm.
– But when it was nice, it was also fantastic because you were with the one you loved and traveled the world, she says.
The career stopped in 1989, and the couple moved to Denmark in 2001.
Anne Laxholm has been a judge since “Wild with dance” started in 2005. She thinks it was an exciting challenge.
– It is a program that makes Danes happy with dance. Since I myself have gotten so much out of the dance, I only think it’s great if I can give a little of it to the Danes, she says.
She also likes the co-judges and that it is live television.
– It makes you have to be on the marks. If you’re going to pick up the wrong sign one night, it’s not good, because you can not change it. Everyone has seen it, she says.
The dance fills a lot in Anne Laxholm’s everyday life, even when she is not sitting in the judge’s chair.
On a daily basis, she teaches with her husband at Dance Academy Laxholm.
When they started their dance studies in 2004, they were not really meant to teach.
But when people started asking after Anne Laxholm had appeared in “Wild with dance”, the couple decided to give it a try.
Anne Laxholm really likes to convey her passion for dance.
She teaches Monday to Thursday and often also on Sundays.
– So except for my day off on Saturday, dancing takes up a lot of space, she says.
Anne and Hans-Henrik Laxholm have been married for 48 years and have a daughter Lisamaria together. The round birthday is to be celebrated with an intimate dinner.
