– Right now it is too expensive to drive electric trucks. Therefore, subsidies are needed for the purchase of electric or hydrogen trucks and charging stations if more electric trucks are to hit the roads, says Michael Svane, industry director at DI Transport, in a comment.
The Climate Council, which advises the government, is convinced that electricity is the future of the shorter truck trips internally in Denmark.
The council emphasizes that for the long trips it is unclear what the future looks like, but here the arrow also points to electricity.
– Although there is uncertainty about the future technology development for the long trips, there are many factors that point in the direction of batteries, the council writes.
– The Climate Council therefore recommends that the government plans after battery trucks will be responsible for a significant part of truck transport and therefore supports the expansion of charging infrastructure.
At Dansk Erhverv, industry director for transport Jesper Kronborg says that the current electric trucks cannot solve the task of driving long journeys with heavy transport through Europe.
– Electricity is a mature solution for cars and vans and lorries on short journeys, but for lorries that travel long distances down through Europe, the technology is not good enough.
– This applies – both in terms of how far they can drive, how fast they can charge, and at the same time there is a lack of infrastructure down through Europe so that they can charge.
– At the same time, it must also be able to be connected financially, and we are not there today, he says.
Jesper Kronborg points out that there is an expectation that heavy transport by 2030 will cut its reductions in CO2, but that in that debate one must be aware that the technology is not in place.
– This may mean that the green transition of heavy transport will take longer until the solutions are ready, says Jesper Kronborg.
At DTL-Danske Vognmรฆnd, which represents hauliers with around 10,000 trucks, director Erik รstergaard believes that you should pat the horse.
– It is too early to draw a complete conclusion about what the trucks will drive on in the future.
– We are still in a phase where we must be open to more technologies to see how they develop in terms of price and technology, he says in a comment.
