According to the winner, Henrik Jensen, it has required both chicken manure and horse manure to haul the victory ashore on Saturday.
– It has also been fed with raw amounts of natural fertilizer as well as large amounts of stinging nettle water, he says.
– My pumpkin also has good genes, because it is a child of last year’s Nordic and Danish champion.
Last year’s winner was 970.4 kilos and had been looked after and cared for by the double winner Jens Peder Skønager from Ribe.
The winner of this year’s DM is not only far from the Danish record, but also the world record.
That record is currently held by an Italian named Stefano Cutropi. He managed to feed a pumpkin with fertilizer to such an extent that it grew to a full 1226 kilos.
