Halloween and Tivoli

There is an orange hue to the Tivoli trees in the fall, and in recent years, the fallen foliage and close to 2,000 straw bales have complemented the many pumpkins perfectly, which has turned the theme park into the ultimate destination to enjoy Halloween.
Who knew that this Irish-American party would penetrate the minds of Danes so quickly, but every autumn holiday thousands descend on Tivoli for seasonal comfort food, excitement and pure terror.
Great for toddlers
But don’t worry: While most of the budget is spent scaring teens and tweens, there is plenty for all ages to enjoy, starting with the regular visitor Rasmus Klump.
Along with his faithful gardener Flora and the pumpkin man, he stands on stage every day during the Tivoli Halloween season, while his playground is a gift for playful tots who like to explore and boast suspension bridges, crawler tubes and lookout towers galore.
Elsewhere, there are plenty of age-appropriate rides, from the Little Ghost Train and Halloween-decorated vintage cars to the Witch Carousel. And watch the monsters parade as all the goulas pass by – on their best behavior in anticipation of the coming evening.
All that malarkey will make them hungry and they are thankfully well catered for with Halloween waffles, toasted almonds and spooky cream buns. It will beat any party Gryffindor devoured after winning the Hogwarts Cup.
Scary for teens
Slightly older children are entrusted with knives, but no, we have not reached the grizzly bit yet. At the foot of the mill on the lawn, it’s time to unleash your creativity and mow your own jack-o’-lantern.
Let’s hope no accidents happen, as we would not recommend ‘The Haunted’, Tivoli’s very own factory located in the caves under the roller coaster.
Of course, we blame Lars von Trier for this nation’s unholy occupation of spooky hospitals, and a visit to ‘The Haunted’ is like meeting the afterlife: restless souls at operations and experiments that have gone wrong await.
But if Villa Vendetta sounds like the holiday you need after it, forget it. The former / current occupants of the haunted mansion will greet you in the dark and only let you go when you have probably been scared.
