Four people are charged in the case, which is both about smuggling and about trade. But the court in Sønderborg has decided that it must be heard behind closed doors until the verdict is handed down.
That is, 26 court hearings are closed land to the public. They take place in the period from November 8 until mid-February.
It is rare that there is secrecy about what goes on during the so-called main hearing in court.
– It is very unusual, says one of the defenders, lawyer Glenn Hein. He states that the request has come from the prosecutor, but will not comment further.
The South and Southern Jutland Police have no explanation for the background. The prosecutor is on vacation, it sounds.
The main rule of law is that there is openness in the administration of justice.
Incidentally, according to the allegation in the indictment, the defendants have not been one-sided, neither in terms of choice of substance and method of transport. Cannabis, cocaine and amphetamine have also been smuggled in a number of cases. In addition, five kilograms of MDMA are mentioned in the indictment.
The imports must have taken place at Kruså, Sæd at Tønder, Frøslev and Rens, it says. Sometimes it was agreed on the social media Snapchat.
The alleged criminal activities must have taken place from December 2016 until May last year. The four are being held in jail because they are in custody. Two are foreign nationals and are required to be deported.
