The intervention – and a fine of 40,000 kroner – is due to the fact that the 33-year-old man has been caught driving several times without a valid driving license.
He has previously been disqualified from driving in Denmark for three years.
At a court hearing in Copenhagen City Court at the end of September, Nicklas Bendtner explained that he had been told by his lawyer that he could legally get behind the wheel again and drive with his British driving license.
– I went into it a lot, so I did not make any foot mistakes, he said.
In city court, his defense attorney argued that there is no basis for confiscation of the car.
– There is no legal basis for denying that Nicklas’ English driving license gives him the right to drive a car, said lawyer Anja Mouridsen, among other things.
In addition, she claimed that the prosecution in the Copenhagen Police had referred to an incorrect section.
Conversely, the prosecutor maintained in court that the rules are simple. To be able to drive a car in Denmark, he had to have regained his Danish driving license.
The claim for confiscation is based on the fact that Bendtner has been caught driving without a valid driving license several times.
