On Monday morning, there was a “major spill” of nitric acid at the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk in Hillerød.
On Monday morning, the clean-up work is completed, and roadblocks and roads outside the building have been removed.
This is stated by Frederiksborg Fire and Emergency Management and the North Zealand Police.
No persons were injured in the spill.
At 06.11, the police received a report of the spill, which took place inside the building at Brennum Park.
According to Ole Kjer, who is operations manager at Frederiksborg Fire and Rescue, it is a small 400 liters of acid that has run from a plant to the floor in the basement. It has happened over an area of about 50 square meters.
The spill is probably due to a leak that has occurred in a tank during the night, the police write in their 24-hour report.
So-called chemical divers wearing protective equipment were brought in to Novo Nordisk to remove the acid, which rose a few centimeters above the floor.
From here, the emergency services have led the acid into some special drains, which Novo Nordisk has, where the acid is neutralized.
Their work is completed Monday morning.
Ole Kjer says that at no time has there been any danger to people in the area around Novo Nordisk.
