The last few days have seen a sharp increase in the number of corona infections in Ishøj south of Copenhagen. Therefore, a number of measures are initiated to reduce the infection.
From Tuesday 26 October, there will be increased test capacity in the municipality.
– Our recommendation is that all citizens in Ishøj Municipality can be tested. This also applies to those who have been vaccinated or have had the disease before, says Bente Møller.
In addition, the agency will make a strengthened infection detection in collaboration with the municipality – including informing citizens about the possibility of isolating themselves elsewhere than at home.
In the past week, there have been 142 cases of infection in Ishøj.
This corresponds to an incidence – number of infected per 100,000 inhabitants – of 616. This is clearly the highest in Denmark. At the national level, the number is 152, according to figures from the Statens Serum Institut (SSI).
If the infection increases further, it may be possible to send school classes home for a period of time.
– We are launching further tests now, but if the infection continues to increase, we can implement further measures.
– It may be possible to send school classes home, but we will only do so if we really assess that there is a need, because we want to keep society open as far as possible, says Bente Møller.
Until the beginning of September, municipalities with particularly high levels of infection were automatically shut down.
That model was abolished in September, when coronavirus turned into a non-socially critical disease.
The infection in a municipality is now considered high by the health authorities if in one week it has more than 500 infected per 100,000 inhabitants. If this happens, it is recommended to take measures that can reduce the infection.
Ishøj is the first municipality to exceed that limit since the model for automatic shutdown was abolished.
Glostrup is close with an incidence of 435, while Albertslund and Brøndby are at 385.
