Inside a fast food restaurant on Kungsgatan in Stockholm, people sit and eat burgers and drink milkshakes. It is just before ten on a bright and warm summer evening on Sunday 30 June 2019.
On the street outside stands a gang of five Americans dressed in streetwear. Two young guys in jeans and white t-shirts arrive at the gang. They try to talk, but seem to have a hard time understanding each other.
The Americans are clearly annoyed and ask the young boys to leave them alone. It is unclear exactly what they want. But it is clear that the mood is hardening. One of the Americans grabs one of the young guys and lifts him away. He responds by getting annoyed and throws his headphones at the American. The headphones have broken.
From the inside of the restaurant, it looks like any drunken brawl. But maybe people in there have already figured out who is involved. Because out on the street is one of the world’s most famous rappers. It’s A $ AP Rocky. In three days, he will be the main act at the Smash Festival at the Stadium in Stockholm.
Out on the street, A $ AP Rocky is trying to shake off the guys. But the young guy is upset that his headphones have broken and continues to follow. In the end, it explodes for A $ AP Rocky and some in the gang who abuse one of the young guys.
When the police arrive at the scene, one of the young boys is confused and shocked. He is put in an ambulance with cuts, abrasions and bruises.
What happened tonight, on the street in central Stockholm, will put A $ AP Rocky on the map and the Swedish legal system in the world’s eye-catcher.
